Intuition VS Intellect

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

Have you ever heard your inner voice speak, only to disregard its message? The above quote sums up the circumstance we live in today. A perceived divide between intellect and intuition - a separation between the rational and magical aspects of our Self. The key to comprehending ourselves lies within the truth of this dichotomy.

How often do we fill ourselves with doubt when we receive intuitive guidance? You know, those times when our inner voice says to go right, and we choose to turn left. When your 'gut' tells you to stay at home, only to learn that there was a major accident that occurred on the exact route, at the exact time you were planning on going. It is in these moments when we realize, even though it makes no logical sense, that the guidance we receive is real and true.

Yet, why is it so difficult for us to trust ourselves and the messages that we receive. In this dualistic 'reality' we live in, we have been conditioned to believe that to embrace one aspect of ourselves means to exclude another. We have given over our power to a belief. The idea that we are internally divided - a fragmented representation of who we truly are.

The truth of the matter is that we are a paradox. We are and we are not both intuitive and intellectual. Rather than being two oppositional forces, intuition and intellect are poles on the same scale: one of which we can traverse any time we so desire. The trick is allow this to happen. When we shift ourselves from rational to creative, from analytical to imaginative we allow ourselves to slide along that scale. When you do this you will discover that you are indeed both and can choose to be either whenever you so decide.
